about

Almost all of these guitar pieces were written by me in the early 2000s. I was beginning to learn to play the guitar and wanted to study music, but I didn't like memorising notes from guitar books, neither did I like the pieces presented in them. So I have composed several simple tunes that I could enjoy playing.

First of them, '№0', was written after I had heard a similar melody on TV. A boy was repeatedly playing a short theme, so I had assumed that it would be useful for me and my studying process to try to replicate the same theme by ear. I had copied several chords from one of my favourite songs, then rearranged the progression and changed the style of playing, which resulted in a new piece.

The last one, '№13', was created in the studio while I was trying to record other tracks for this album. I am not a very skilled guitar player, so I had to record lots of takes over and over. Some of them were very long ones, too, because I needed to capture the full strings' sustain. This is because one chord progresses and resolves into another one, and sometimes one particular or several strings vibrate for quite a long time. Eventually I got too weary of this process and decided to play around, change the routine to something new and more enjoyable. I quite liked the melody that I ended up with and tried to learn it. So it became a new piece and was consequently recorded. I added several notes from №13 into №0, which ended the album. Doing this has resulted in creating a reference to the track '№13' which is the last one that had been written and that I have decided to place in the beginning of the album.

Finally, after all of these songs had been recorded I've added some ambiental elements and now it is something more than just a bunch of tunes that I would listen to passing time during my late night journeys home from work in a night bus that isn't too rattling.
